ARIZONA WINTER CAMP

Canadian commercial training and time-building in the desert.

It’s fun, it gets the job done effectively and it ends up costing less than if you tried to get it done at home!

We take two groups south each year. The first camp is from early November to mid-December. The second is from early January to mid-February. Each group comprises 4 students, 4 planes and 4 instructors. The trip down is done as long distance dual electronic navigation training. At the camp we concentrate on the advanced Commercial Flight Training including instrument work and night flying. The experience time-building hours include long distance navigation trips to exotic destinations like Sedona, the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas and the US military ‘boneyard’ in Tucson. At the completion of the course the students fly themselves back to Canada solo.

Up to 8 hours of flying per student per day builds practical experience rapidly. One of the big advantages is the opportunity to fly ‘mutual’ with other students. This gives everyone much as 60 extra experience hours at no cost. The opportunity to experience the high traffic areas of some of western USA’s biggest airports also looks good on resumes for that first flying job.

The camp itself comprises comfortable accommodations right on the airport at various desert locations. Students are responsible for their own cooking and the group cooperation of community living, flying and studying adds to the fun .

Applicants must have a Canadian Private Pilot Licence, a Category 1 Medical and a current Passport.

Preference is given to applicants who can prove a high standard of initial training.

Note that this program is not covered by PCTIA.
