| TIPS FOR NON-VITAL STUDENTS The content of this page will change frequently. The information here can fill a book and, in fact, represents the contents of our "LEARNING TO FLY IN CANADA" book spread over a couple of years of web pages. Not everyone visiting this site will be fortunate enough to train with Vital, so if we can’t have you as a customer, perhaps we can have you as a friend with the following ‘Vital’ advice. Tip No. 11: INSTRUCTOR SHORTAGE Traditionally, most new instructor candidates have been young Commercial Pilots whose main goal was to build flying time as an instructor towards the airline career job that they would rather be doing. The aviation industry is currently in a period of rapid expansion and the commercial job market is so good that new pilots can skip this instructor phase in their career. Thus, with fewer new people training to be instructors and experienced instructors being snapped up by the airlines, we have a serious shortage. To make matters worse only a Class 1 instructor can train a new Class 4 candidate and there are very few Class 1 instructors left. Consequently, even the few new candidates that are available cannot find the Class 1 instructors that they need to get started. At Vital Aviation we have two highly experienced Class 1 instructors available – but we are tough! We will only accept candidates for instructor training who show that they intend to be dedicated career teachers. Time-builders need not apply! We feel that the most appropriate new instructor trainees will be older
candidates who have some general aviation experience that will be useful
as a basis for teaching. If you are a person in this category –
contact us.
